Vertigo announces “The Long Road to Hell”.

The MTV Geek, has just released an interview with me, talking about the American Vampire Special im working on: The Long Road to Hell. Not only special because its a break on the hiatus the main series is in, but also its my debut as a Vertigo writer, along with Scott Snyder.

Below a quick quote on the interview:

“This is my first time writing for Vertigo and it’s a big honor. Once it was decided we would go on hiatus, I approached Mark (our editor) with the idea of doing this special, so the fans could have a ‘taste of blood’ while waiting for the book’s return. He liked the idea and we (Scott Snyder, Mark and I) began talking about it.” (Read the full article clicking here)

The Long Road to Hell is about two young lovers, newly turned vampires trying to fight the blood thirst inside them, travelling trough the American Heartland. They’ve got a pack of angry vampires on their tails…along with Travis Kidd.

The one-shot special, comes out June 12!

Legends of Dark Knight out this week!

Finally! The story “Adaptation”, written and illustrated by me (in my debut as a DC writer!) is coming out today, digitally trought the site COMIXOLOGY.
Thats a short (and twisted) story, where I could pay a tribute to The Killing Joke, one of the greatest Batman stories ever.

The colors are from my talent American Vampire partner, Dave McCaig, and I couldn’t be prouder!

Art Exibition in Chicago

This trip in USA is being a marathon. We had a lot of fun in NY (convention and the extra vacation days we took), and now its time to fly Chicago, where im proudly attending the opening of the AMERICAN VAMPIRE ART EXIBITION, that happens in the ROGUE’S GALLERY.

The opening night will be friday, October 19th, from 7pm-10pm and the art will be there until november 26th.

I will be in attendance, signing copies of AMERICAN VAMPIRE and BATMAN. An exclusive, original 11″x17″ limited edition print will be provided free (for one night only) with the purchase of any book featuring my work.

Wine and beer will be served, so this is a good reason to come, even if you dont like my art.

Literally counting days to fly New York.
There is a while I dont go there and I really missed it. The official reason to go, is, of course, NYCC, one of the coolest conventions in USA, where i’ll be proudly sharing an Artist Alley table with my long time friend Gustavo Duarte. As usual we will have some goodies to sell:

Gustavo will have his classic indie books TAXI and BIRDS, and is bringing the brand new graphic novel MONSTROS!. An amazing book it worth to check out.

I’ll have American Vampire Hardcovers volumes 1,2,3 and the just released 4. All written byScott Snyder and illustrated by me and some top talents, such as Jordi Bernet, Sean Murphy and others and limited and signed prints.

Our table number is Z11 and can be found on the Artist Alley. Pass by!

NYCC Commission List is Open!

October is right there and soon we will be in the Big Apple, for one more New York Comicon. This year, I’ll be sharing a nice Artist Alley table with my friend Gustavo Duarte.

Resurrection Man #7 cover art for charity auction!

Few months ago, we had the chance to auction a Batman drawing for the NGO Projet Street Dog Adorers (Projeto Adoradores de Vira-Latas, in Portuguese), and we raised some important money for them.

This shelter needs help once again, and donations are very important, so,this time, I’ve decided to auction my Resurrection Man covers, starting by this one below, done for issue #07.

About the PSDA Shelter:

The PSDA is a shelter where rescued animals live until they find a second chance. Currently they have almost 250 animals, including dogs and cats, puppies and adults. The primary mission of the Project is to help the animals that roam the streets neglected. They are based in Viamão, a city really close of Porto Alegre, where i live, and its ran by Paula Correa, the founder of the NGO, who says, to keep the project, they have the sympathy of good people.

I have nothing but admiration for Paula. She makes an amazing work using the social networks, wich help her find home to the animals, partners to emergency rescues and donaters to paid veterinarians and all shelter’s costs.

You can help them too, bid and spread it arround!

Next Stop: San Diego Comicon!

Paris was a great show! Have met many cool people, so thanks a lot everybody woh passed by the Artist Alle, to the sunny San Diego, to the biggest entertainment show of the world. How cool is that?
Once again, I’ll be sharing the booth #1320-1322 with the long time pals Fabio Moon, Gabriel Bá, Murilo Martins, Jill Thompson, Becky Cloonan, Cliff Chiang and my American Vampire pal, Scott Snyder.

Counting days to Paris Comicon!

Can’t tell how excited I am to finally visit Paris. Glad that this oppirtunity came trough the cool fellas from Paris Comicon. I’ve always appreciated the French comic albuns (and European, in general) and have nothing but the deepest respect for the French creators and will be amazing knowing face to face my French fans.

For this show, I’ll have plenty of activities according to my schedule:
