American Vampire wins the Eisners!

The unbelieveble happened. We DID won the Eisners.

At the moment I was so nervous that didnt know what to say. I can’t remember what I said. But, I’ll now, thank everybody that deserves praise for this.

First of all, the master of horror, Stephen King, who collaborated with a phenomenal Skinner Sweet origin story, and, I’m sure, have a crucial importance in the recognizement of the book. We couldn’t have a better godfather for this book.

Dave McCaig. I still dont understand why he wasn’t nominated as best colorist, but I know, he is the best in the business right now. BEST ONE. I couldn’t be more honored of being working with a color monster like him.

Will Dennis. The guy who got me into the project. The guy who trusted in my work, even seeing mainstreen stuff like Blue Beetle and Superman/Batman believed that I could do something totally different. Against all odds.

Karen Berger. She is though, I’ve always fear her, until met her. She is simply amazing, and I have never seen anybody who cares about her people as she does. Pleased to be “one of yours”.

Special thanks to my co-workers and big friends Mark Doyle and Scott Snyder.

I have written about Mark before. He is the guy who pushed me in getting something better, ALL the time. Sometimes I’m lazy. He doesnt let me. He is the guy who fights me to do the best thing, but as well, I know he fights FOR ME to do the best thing, and that, makes him the best editor I have ever worked with.

What else can I say about Scott? I’m an only child, but Scott is like my brother. We simply “cliked” since the begining. We have the same ideas for the vampires. Scott is a guy who shares all the ideas with me. Not only American Vampire, but also Batman, Iron Man and everything else he does. I have never seen anybody as excited about work in comics as he is. Dude. It’s contagious.

Guys. I’m glad to share this award with all of you.
